Over the past several decades, the lake levels have risen to high for some homeowners. High lake levels in
winter damage retaining walls and loosens the shoreland. For example, for a lake that is one mile across,
when the ice temprature rises from 12 to 32 degrees the ice sheet will expand laterally a total of almost 3 feet, when
there is no snow cover on the ice sheet! Most of the cabins/homes and shorelines were developed in the 40s
& 50s and 60s before the Harworth Road Dam and the beavers. Save Our Sacheen, is determined to preserve Sacheen Lake
and its natural beauty...
