Sachee Lake Transfer Station  8:00 am to 4:00 pm

From Newport, take Highway 2 West toward Spokane to Gray Rd. (about mile marker 330) Turn right or North onto Gray Rd.  Follow it to Deer Valley Rd.  Turn left or West onto Deer Valley Rd. proceed about 1,000 feet to the first driveway on the left; the chain link gate entrance to the South County Transfer Station.  OR

From Spokane or the Diamond Lake area, continue East on Highway 2 towards Newport.  Turn left or North onto Coyote Trail (at about mile marker 328).  Go North on Coyote Trial for about 1.5 miles (cross Southshore Diamond Lake Rd) to Deer Valley Rd.  Turn right or East onto Deer Valley Rd for about 1 mile.  Turn right at the chain link gate entrance to the South County Transfer Station.

Pend Oreille County has 3 Transfer Stations conveniently located in the county:

  1. South County Station is west of Newport off Highway 2 and Gray Road. They are open 8am-4pm Thursday through Monday; and closed Tuesday and Wednesday, 509-447-3054.
  2. Central County Station is off Highway 211 at Jared Road.  They are open 8am-4pm only on Wednesday and Saturday, 509-445-0222.
  3. North County Station is east of Ione located at 1712 Sullivan Lake Road.  They are open from 8am-4pm only on Wednesday and Saturday, 509-442-3051.

There are four HOLIDAYS when the transfer stations are CLOSED:  1) New Years Day, 2) Labor Day, 3) Thanksgiving Day and 4) Christmas Day.  All other holidays such as Memorial Day and July 4th are OPEN days IF they fall on a normal, working, business day.

Pend Oreille County Solid Waste Division completed the new addition to the Recycle Building in October 2010.  It is located at the South County Transfer Station off Deer Valley Road, just 5 miles west of Newport.  The John Deere Skidsteer and Excel baler are operational.  Clean, dry corrugated cardboard is compressed into 1,200 pound bales ready for recycling. (Click here for Recycle  Information) The South County Transfer Station on Deer Valley Road has been identified as a Pend Oreille County collection site for E-Cycle (electronics recycling).  (Click here to see E-cycle brochure)
