Beyersdorf was born in Spokane July 18, 1944, to Bernadine and Orville Beyersdorf. He attended Jefferson Elementary School and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1962. On Feb. 15, 1969, he married his sweetheart and friend Dorothy Hanson. He was very proud of his children, Ronald and Michele, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Beyersdorf worked as a mechanic in the Seattle area for most of his life before retiring to Sacheen Lake. His specialty was making and maintaining lifelong friendships with scores of people. He was known for his sense of humor, his hospitality and his willingness to provide any kind of assistance to anyone he knew. Gary was a beloved husband, father, uncle, neighbor and friend.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, uncles Curt and Glen, and his daughter-in-law Michelle Beyersdorf.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Beyersdorf; two children, Ronald Orville Beyersdorf of Redmond, Wash., and Michele Lee Roush of Spokane; and his grandchildren, Benjiman Roush and Jake and Jeffrey Beyersdorf. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Beverly Lyson of Newport, Ore., and brothers Paul (and Sharon) of Merritt Island, Fla., Tom (and Loraine) of West Jordan, Utah, and Steve (and Sarah) of Spokane, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family sends a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses that have given Beyersdorf such good care over the past four years. Also, to the many friends and neighbors that have been such a support to the entire family.

A memorial service to celebrate Beyersdorf’s life will be held this summer at his home on Sacheen Lake. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts in Beyersdorf’s memory can be made to: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, c/o Donor Services Challenge Grant, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
